The Department of Nutrition Sciences offers four academic programs for nutritionists at all levels.
Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Clinical NutritionTwo-year fellowship for physicians in Clinical Nutrition is offered by the UAB Departments of Nutrition Sciences and Medicine. Its objectives are to produce well-rounded academicians trained in all aspects of Clinical Nutrition and Nutrition Sciences, with emphasis on prevention of chronic diseases, particularly cancer. This will prepare them for careers in research, patient care, teaching, and health promotion/disease prevention. The program is supported by funds from the National Cancer Institute, as a Cancer Prevention and Control Training Program.
Dietetic InternshipPrepares entry-level dietitians for a variety of careers in healthcare, wellness, and food service management
M.S. Program in Clinical NutritionDesigned for registered dietitians to provide training and experience related to treatment and prevention of disease through the science and art of optimal nutritional care
Ph.D Program in Nutrition SciencesProvides training and research experiences to learn the science of nutrition as it relates to maintaining the health of individuals and populations, as well as to the care and treatment of individuals with a variety of diseases.
