Donna J. Slovensky, PhD, RHIA, FAHIMA, is Professor in the Health Care Management Program in the Department of Health Services Administration, School of Health Professions, University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Slovensky is also Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs in the School of Health Professions. She holds secondary appointments in the Department of Management in the School of Business, the UAB Graduate School, and the School of Medicine Center for Outcomes and Effectiveness Research and Education. She also is a scholar in the Lister Hill Center for Health Policy.
Dr. Slovensky’s teaching assignments include strategic management, quality management, medical terminology, and the management internship. Dr. Slovensky has consulting experience in a variety of health care organizations including inpatient and ambulatory facilities, home health programs, and physician practices in addition to consulting with HIM education programs. Her research interests include the strategic use of information resources; outcomes assessment using clinical and administrative data; and innovative teaching methodologies in health professions education.
