Dr. Keith Elder serves as an Associate Professor in the B.S. of Health Care Management Program in the School of Health Professions, Department of Health Services Administration, at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Prior to joining UAB, Dr. Elder served as an Assistant Professor and Associate Director of the MPH program in the Department of Health Services Policy and Management at the University of South Carolina, Arnold School of Public Health. He received his doctorate from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in health policy and Master’s degrees in public health and public administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
His research interests are minority men's health, health information technology, social networking as an aid to improve health, aging, HIV/AIDs, reducing health disparities, and health care access. The broad goal of Dr. Elder's research is to help improve the health and ultimately the lives of poor and underserved groups by providing evidence based research that helps improve how they interface with the healthcare system and informs programs, and policies.
