The University of Alabama at Birmingham's (UAB) School of Health Professions (SHP) has two part time faculty positions available in the Center for Health Services Continuing Education. The Center is a well-established provider of a wide variety of continuing education activities including the National Symposium for Healthcare Executives now in its 29th year. The Center requires faculty to develop and support its five primary goals: 1) providing continuing education opportunities for health services managers; 2) developing capacity of departmental faculty and students to provide consultative and project management services to health care organizations; 3) enhancing external organizational support through professional and industry linkages for the Department, faculty, students and activities; 4) expanding and solidifying commitment of the base of preceptors for MSHA and other Departmental Programs; and 5) strengthening relations with healthcare delivery organizations in Birmingham, Alabama, the Southeast US and the nation.
SHP is one of our nation’s largest and most diverse schools of its type with more than twenty programs at the baccalaureate, masters and doctoral levels. UAB is a Doctoral/Research University-Extensive with an international reputation in health care education and biomedical research.
Faculty responsibilities include developing, planning and/or teaching in selected classroom, blended and off-site continuing education offerings including the National Symposium, international educational initiatives, and corporate education projects among many others. In addition, faculty must maintain a program of scholarly activity and participate in professional service activities. Qualifications include: Master’s degree in health administration, business, health informatics, education or related discipline; knowledge and hands-on experience with international healthcare or other businesses; professional leadership experience in a healthcare delivery organization; and project management expertise. The salary and academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience but this will be a part time, non-tenure earning position.
