The University of Alabama at Birmingham's (UAB) School of Health Professions (SHP) has a full-time, twelve-month faculty position in the Center for Health Services Continuing Education. The Center is a well-established provider of a wide variety of continuing education activities in support of the six programs in the Department of Health Services Administration. Among many other activities emanating from the Center is the National Symposium for Healthcare Executives now in its 28th year. The Center requires faculty to support: formal continuing education enterprises, expanding international education opportunities, rapid growth in a number of executive format education programs, and professional outreach activities.
SHP is one of our nation’s largest and most diverse schools of its type with more than twenty programs at the baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral levels. UAB is a Doctoral/Research University-Extensive with an international reputation in health care education and biomedical research.
Faculty responsibilities include developing, planning and/or teaching in selected classroom, blended and off-site continuing education offerings. These offerings include the Symposium, international educational initiatives, corporate education projects among many others. All faculty must teach (including instructional delivery via Internet-based applications), maintain a program of scholarly activity and participate in professional service activities. Qualifications include: Master’s degree in health administration, business, health informatics, education or related discipline; knowledge and hands-on experience with international healthcare or other businesses; instructional design experience or training; professional experience in a health care facility; and project management expertise. The salary and academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience but this will be a non-tenure earning position. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
