Dr. T. Michael Harrington is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, 1972. He received his medical degree in 1976 from the University of Virginia, and did his internship and residency in the United States Navy in Pensacola, Florida. He served as a physician in the United States Navy Medical Corps for eight years and joined the UAB faculty in the Department of Family and Community Medicine in 1984. He is currently the chairman of the department. Dr. Harrington provides the full spectrum of patient care, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. His special interests include health maintenance and preventative medicine.
Dr. Harrington enjoys family medicine because "it enables the physician to see all the members of the same family, and how they interact with one another is a great advantage for providing health care to an individual patient."
Dr. Harrington’s wife does research in the School of Public Health and the School of Medicine at UAB and they have two children. The Harrington family resides in Hoover, Alabama.
