In a separate report on “Ahead of the Curve Careers,” the organization recognized Health Information Specialist/Manager as one of the relatively new careers that is already viable and poised for tremendous growth. Specifically, the article discusses the value of a health information management undergraduate degree and/or a master’s degree in health information management or health informatics.

Another area of growth mentioned is in the area of behavioral genetics, with the dawn of the age of clinical genomics. The School of Health Professions has received approval to establish a graduate-level genetic counseling program, which blends knowledge of human genetics with counseling to produce an individual who is equipped to help individuals understand health and medical options that are available for  specific genetic disorders that may occur because of the presence of particular genes in their DNA.
