Professor Donna Slovensky and Associate Professor Midge Ray have authored chapters in the third edition of "Health Information: Management of a Strategic Resource", co-edited by Associate Professor Sara Grostick. The new edition was published in March, 2007 by W.B. Saunders, an imprint of Elsevier, Inc.
Professor Slovensky’s chapter is “Performance Management and Patient Safety” and Associate Professor Ray’s chapter is “Health Care Systems”. Written for use in several Health Information Management courses within the Health Information Management curriculum, this text emphasizes the deployment of information technology and the role of the HIM professional in the development of the electronic health record. With the American Health Information Management Association and U.S. government initiative for all patient records to go electronic, this text gives HIM students the education they need to work with the electronic health record.
