Terri Johnson of Cullman, Alabama was awarded The Emil von Behring Scholarship. Terri is a junior in the Clinical Laboratory Sciences Program at UAB School of Health Professions. She is a member of the Clinical Laboratory Science Student Association and is involved in student government as well as many community service projects in the Birmingham area.
Scholarship awards of $2,500 in the U.S. are available from Dade Behring each year for 34 students in their third or fourth year of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) accredited Medical Technologist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist program. Dade Behring is working with the American Society for Clinical Pathology as its administering partner for this scholarship.
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, leadership abilities, community activities, professional goals, and endorsements from faculty and community leaders. The ASCP began the student scholarship program in 1992 to encourage the best and brightest students to pursue careers in the laboratory.
