Mary Warren, MS, OTR/L, SCLV, FAOTA is Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the Director of the Graduate Certificate in Low Vision Rehabilitation Program. She is the editor of the
Self Paced Clinical Study: Low Vision: Occupational Therapy Intervention with the Older Adult, and authored the
Occupational Therapy Guidelines for Adults with Low Vision both published by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). She currently serves as the AOTASB panel chair developing OT certification in low vision rehabilitation. She regularly provides workshops on low vision rehabilitation and on visual perceptual dysfunction following acquired brain injury and has won numerous awards for teaching and clinical excellence. She served as guest editor for a special issue of the American Journal of Occupational Therapy devoted to low vision rehabilitation. She has contributed chapters to several rehabilitation textbooks and developed the
Brain Injury Visual Perceptual Battery for Adults. She served as a member of the American Medical Association committee to review revisions made to the vision chapter for the AMA Guide for Evaluation of Permanent Impairment and was an invited speaker at a public forum on Disability Determination for Individuals with Visual Impairment, sponsored by the National Research Council, National Academy of Science.
