Special Financial Aid Programs for Students Enrolled in Professional Phase of SHRP Programs
General:
Dean's Merit Scholarships: Several scholarships are available for outstanding students entering the professional phase of SHRP's baccalaureate programs. New students must have a minimum overall grade point average of 3.0 to apply. Inquiries should be made to the director of the program in which the student will enroll. Deadline: May 1 prior to the expected date of enrollment in SHRP.

Minority Student Scholarships: A limited number of scholarships are awarded annually to minority students enrolling in the School of Health Related Professions. Inquiries should be directed to the Assistant Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, School of Health Related Professions.

Matthew F. McNulty, Jr., Health Services Emergency Loan: Students enrolled in the professional phase of programs in the School of Health Related Professions are eligible to apply for this low-interest loan. The fund was originally established by the University Hospital Auxiliary, and its purpose is to provide support for students needing emergency assistance. The amount of the loan will depend upon the student's needs. Inquiries should be directed to the Office of SHRP Student Services, Webb Building.

SHRP Student Senate Association Scholarships: Inaugurated in 1999, these non-need based scholarships are awarded to five students who are enrolled full-time in the professional phase of a SHRP undergraduate or graduate program. Student applications are judged on grade point average, overall achievement, and involvement in college and SHRP, and extracurricular activities. Inquiries should be directed to an SSA Senator or to the Office of SHRP Student Services.

Health Services Administration:
M.S.H.A. Alumni Association Scholarship: Awarded to students in the Master of Science in Health Administration Program. Selection is based on prior academic performance, leadership potential, motivation, and financial need. Inquiries should be made to Director, Health Administration Program.
Medical Group Management Association Scholarship: Awarded to a student in the Master of Science in Health Administration Program. Selection is based on academic performance, extracurricular activities, and commitment to enter the profession of medical practice management. Inquiries should be made to Director, Health Administration Program.
J. Kenneth Roan Memorial Scholarship in Hospital and Health Administration: Awarded to a student in the Master of Science in Health Administration Program. Selection is based on academic merit, financial need, and potential for making a significant contribution to the health services administration profession. Inquiries should be made to Director, Health Administration Program.
Foster G. McGaw Scholarship in Health Administration: Awarded to a student in the Master of Science in Health Administration Program. Selection is based on academic merit, financial need, and potential for making a significant contribution to the health services administration profession. Inquiries should be made to Director, Health Administration Program.

Medical Technology:
Patricia Ann Amos Scholarship: One scholarship of $500 is awarded annually to a student in the baccalaureate program in medical technology. Selection is based on academic achievement and leadership. Inquiries should be made to Director, Medical Technology Program.
The Cooperating Clinical Laboratories of Huntsville Scholarship/Loan: One loan or scholarship of variable amount up to full tuition may be awarded annually to one or two students in the professional phase of the baccalaureate program in medical technology. Selection is based on academic achievement and leadership and willingness to locate in Huntsville for employment. Inquiries should be made to Director, Medical Technology Program.

Nuclear Medicine Technology:
Paul Cole Scholarship: Four scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each are awarded annually by the Society of Nuclear Medicine to students in baccalaureate programs in nuclear medicine technology. Selection is based on grade point average and financial need. Inquiries should be made to the Director, Nuclear Medicine Technology Program.

Nutrition Sciences:
Carol Brewster Craig Endowed Scholarship for Dietetic Interns and M.S. Students in Clinical Nutrition: Two scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each are awarded annually based on academic scholarship and financial need. Inquiries should be made to the Director, Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics Division.
Sara Terrell Scholarship: One scholarship in the amount of $1,000 is awarded annually to a student in the Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics Division. Inquiries should be made to the Director, Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics Division.

Occupational Therapy:
Beason Memorial Emergency Loan: This 90-day/no-interest emergency loan may be awarded to students enrolled in the Occupational Therapy Division. Inquiries should be made to the Director, Occupational Therapy Division.
Elizabeth Davis Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to promote students in their academic and clinical preparation to become practicing occupational therapists. Inquiries should be made to the Director, Occupational Therapy Division.
Memorial Scholarships: Scholarships are awarded to outstanding students who will be graduating from the Occupational Therapy program. Inquiries should be made to the Director, Occupational Therapy Division.

Physical Therapy:
Randy Gilner Emergency Loan: This no interest loan may be awarded to students enrolled in the Physical Therapy Division. Inquiries should be directed to the Physical Therapy Division.
Minority Scholarships: Scholarships covering tuition and fees and renewable annually are available to African-American students who are enrolled in the Physical Therapy Division. Selection is based on academic achievement and financial need. Inquiries should be directed to the Director, Physical Therapy Division.
Scrushy/HealthSouth Scholarship: Academic scholarships are awarded to students in the first year of the entry level professional degree program in Physical Therapy. Selection is based on academic merit and financial need. Applicants must be a native of the State of Alabama. Inquiries should be made to the Director, Physical Therapy Division.
Shirley A. Shaddeau Scholarship: One scholarship is awarded to a student in the entry level professional degree program in Physical Therapy. Selection is based on demonstration of solid academic promise, high moral character, and financial need. Inquiries should be made to the Director, Division of Physical Therapy.

Radiologic Sciences
May Williams Scholarship: One scholarship for a maximum of $1,000 is awarded to a student in the Radiography Program. Selection is based on academic merit. Inquiries should be made to the Director, Division of Medical Imaging and Therapy.

Surgical Physician Assistant:
Albert E. Purser Scholarship: Students with financial need who are enrolled in or accepted for enrollment in the Surgical Physician Assistant Program may apply for this scholarship. Applicants must be permanent residents of Alabama. Inquiries should be made to the Director, Surgical Physician Assistant Program.
Earl W. Hall Loan: Seniors in the Surgical Physician Assistant Program with emergency financial needs are eligible to apply for this low-interest loan. The fund is administered by the Matthew F McNulty, Jr., Health Sciences Emergency Loan Fund Committee.
Henry L. Laws Scholarship Loan: Students with financial need who are enrolled in or accepted for enrollment in the Surgical Physician Assistant Program may apply for this loan. Inquiries should be made to the Director, Surgical Physician Assistant Program.

Additional Sources of Aid:
Many organizations have funds that may be available to SHRP students. Students should contact their program directors to obtain information on special programs that may be available to students enrolled in specific programs.
