W. Jack Duncan, Ph.D., is Professor and University
Scholar in Management in the Graduate School of Management, Professor of
Health Care Organization and Policy and a Senior Scholar in the
Lister
Hill Center for Health Policy in the School of Public Health, and
Professor of Health Services Administration in the School of Health Professions at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He
presently serves as Interim Dean of the
School
of Business/Graduate School of Management. Jack is a Fellow of the
Academy of Management, a Fellow of the International Academy of
Management, and a Founding Fellow of the Southern Management Association.
He has served as a Member-at-Large on the Academy's Board of Governors, as
a member of the Board of Directors of the Academy's Foundation for
Administrative Research, and as Chair of the Management Education and
Development Division. He chaired the Academy's Centennial Celebration
Committee in 1986 and the All-Academy Distinguished Educator and
Distinguished Service Committee in 1991-1992. He is presently a member of
the Editorial Board of the
Academy of Management Executive and
several other management journals
. Jack served as President
of the Southern Management Association (1985), as President of the
Southern Allied Business Association (1985), and as President of the
Southwest Division of the Academy of Management (1983). He coordinated the
SMA Doctoral Consortium in 1995 and 1996 and has served as a faculty
member in the Consortium for a number of years. As a Senior Lecturer in
the John Sparkman Center for International Public Health Education he
served as a visiting professor under the Center's sponsorship at the
Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru. He has also been a
visiting professor at the International Business Institute in Switzerland
and at Northeastern University in Boston. In 1986 he was a Senior
Fulbright Scholar at the Pontificia Universidade Catolica do Rio de
Janeiro, Brazil. He is presently a Visiting Professor of Management at the
Medical University of South Carolina. Jack is the President of a
management consulting and proprietary research firm with clients in the
South, Southwest, and Midwest.
