Laura K. Vogtle, PhD, OTR/L, ATP is an Associate Professor of occupational therapy. She has a PhD in Educational Psychology, with a major in Program Evaluation, and a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology with a major in Educational Research, both from the University of Virginia. Her bachelor's degree is in occupational therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Vogtle has 35 years of experience in occupational therapy, having worked as a pediatric clinician at both Children's Hospital of DC and the Kluge Children's Rehabilitation Center in Charlottesville, VA. In addition, she has extensive consulting experience with Early Intervention programs and school systems; she also has both clinical and research experience in assistive technology. Since joining the faculty at UAB, she has studied outcomes following BOTOX injections, quality of life issues in elderly persons with epilepsy, and transportation problems for persons with epilepsy. She is part of a team of faculty participating in a Department of Education Transdisciplinary Team training grant for professionals working in Early Intervention settings. Dr. Vogtle is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), the Rehabilitation Enigineering Society of North American, the Alabama Occupational Therapy Association (ALOTA), and the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine.
