Christina Barger Hurst, MS, CGC, is the assistant program director for the genetic counseling program at UAB. She was in clinical practice at UAB’s Department of Genetics for 4 years prior to joining the School of Health Professions. She has clinical experience in pediatrics, prenatal, and a variety of specialty genetics clinics and has experience as a study coordinator caring for patients on clinical trials. She also has experience with study development, implementation, design, and regulatory management. She serves as the chair of the Department of Genetics’ internal IRB committee.
Mrs. Hurst received her undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Furman University (2004) and her Master of Science degree in genetic counseling from the University of South Carolina (2006). She is an active member of the National Society of Genetic Counseling and the Association of Genetic Counseling Program Directors.
