PURPOSE
The SHP Student Government Association is an organization of students representing each of the different programs in the allied health professions, serving to maintain unity and continuity of the student body. The organization:

Serves as liaison between SHP students and faculty and administration. Serves as planning organization for extracurricular activities in SHP.

Serves as representative voice for student issues.

Encourages development of leadership, organizational, and management skills.

Provides services to the community.

Promotes interaction among the SHP programs to unify the SHP student body.

Serves as liaison between SHP and other UAB student government organizations and campus services.

Allocates funds received from SHP student activity fees.

Promotes community awareness of allied health professions by participating in recruiting and orientation of prospective students.

Promotes the role of each profession in total health care delivery.
DUTIES OF SGA SENATORS

Attend SGA meetings.

Become an active member of one of the four SGA standing committees.

Communicate SGA activities and announcements to program and classmates.

Reflect program needs or concerns to the SGA.
-
Maintain an up-to-date calendar in order to be kept aware of future activities, meetings, etc.
-
Encourage each program’s student participation and interest in SGA activities.
